Ash and Hettie’s Wedding at Ilmington Manor and Ettington Park Hotel

Today is Hettie’s birthday and it seems like the perfect time to reflect on her wedding day.  I’m not sure what she is doing to celebrate her birthday but you could bet money on the fact that there will be lots of fun and laughter involved.
Ash and Hettie’s wedding in Warwickshire was definitely the event of the season!  While I love every wedding I get to be a part of, there are a few each year that I really look forward to for one reason or another, and this was one of them.  Part of it was the location–Ilmington Manor and Ettington Park Hotel are two places in the UK that I think are just really beautiful and located perfectly for photography.  More important than the venue is, of course, the couple.  They are so joyful!  It has been lovely getting to know them over the past year.  The wedding was meticulously planned and the day went without a hitch. The weather was beautiful, which was a relief after all the rain we had earlier in the Summer.  I arrived bright and early to find the couple in separate rooms both having their hair done.  It was a first, photographing the groom having his hair straightened!
The day went without a hitch and was a perfect English wedding in a beautiful little church in an English village followed by tea and cakes at Ilmington Manor at Pimms O’Clock! Ilmington Manor  is an Elizabethan cotswold stone manor house. The 4 acre garden has hundreds of roses, extensive yew topiary, ornamental trees and even a unicorn!  There were lots of charming touches including pretty cake stands and pastel coloured bunting.
The main wedding reception took place at Ettington Park Hotel where the ballroom was decked out with a Lord of the Rings inspired theme.  The tables looked exquisite and represented Ash’s second love! The speeches were all fantastic and I’m hoping to see the video at some point to relive them along with the couple’s splendid first dance.
Thank you Ash and Hettie for choosing me to photograph your wedding.  It was an absolute pleasure sharing the day with you and your wonderful friends and family.
